BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Family Shooting Academy in Bellevue is holding a food drive for Paul’s Pantry.
General Manager of Family Shooting Academy Mike Shea is excited about the many things they are raffling off.
“We’re giving away a membership, guns, products from different hunting and shooting companies. We’ve got a target pistol and a hunting rifle that we are giving away.”
They are also giving away a bulletproof backpack.
When you donate an item, you get a free ticket for the raffle.
“It doesn’t matter if you bring six things or bring one thing, you’ll get a ticket for everything you bring in off of that list.”
Shea says whoever wins the guns will be routinely background checked.
Family Shooting Academy started this drive because of the need for protein at Paul’s Pantry.
“Canned meat, protein like peanut butter, canned tuna, canned salmon, canned chicken, any type of beef stews, real easy heat and eat type soups that are real hearty and have a lot of colorful vegetables,” says Craig Robbins, Executive Director of Paul’s Pantry.
Robbins says the partnership is a great fit, especially regarding their Hunt for the Hungry program.
“Each Fall, we rely on hunters to use up all of their tags and take as many deer as they can. The venison goes a long way.”
With food prices increasing, more households are coming for food at Paul’s Pantry.
“We were seeing 130 households a day back in April, and now we are up to 160. We’ve had some days where we are well over 200 households,” says Robbins.
This donation drive begins on Saturday and the winners will be drawn the following Sunday.
