KIMBERLY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Four Kimberly schools were under what the district called a “soft lockdown” for half an hour Monday.
District officials said the lockdown was a result of activity at a business in the vicinity of the schools.
Around 2:20 p.m., the 4K Center for Literacy, Westside Elementary, Mapleview Intermediate and J.R. Gerritts Middle schools went into lockdown. Students remained in classrooms and continued with instruction. The lockdown was lifted when authorities indicated the situation was under control.
Students were not made aware of the nature of the police activity.
School leaders said there was no immediate danger as a result of the situation.
