GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – With supply chains still experiencing kinks, Northeast Wisconsin shops are asking people to be patient when looking for holiday decor this season.
“Twenty twenty-one is all about shortages and surcharges and freight, so it’s been really tough for the retail market,” Thornberry Cottage co-owner Suzette Hackl said.
The owners of Thornberry Cottage tells FOX 11 they planned ahead when buying for the upcoming Christmas season.
“Last time we went to market, we bought very deep and very big for Christmas, so the store is still packed although we are still waiting on some shipments,” Thornberry Cottage co-owner Saundra Laskowski said.
Delayed shipments aren’t their only issue.
“Also our shipping, our surcharges went up anywhere from three to thirteen percent, so, normally when we buy products we get discounts for how deep and how many products we get. We lost all those discounts as well and now our shipping is more expensive,” Hackl said.
Taylor Creek in Green Bay is also experiencing shipping delays.
Owner Mike Kapp tells FOX 11 it’s been a frustrating year.
“All the way around, even starting with patio furniture into Christmas. Patience, that’s really our biggest thing is that there’s not much we can do about it and we are waiting for the products to arrive.”
The staff at Taylor Creek typically see Christmas decorations being delivered in July.
“We have probably 60% of our products right now. Trees are late. We’re hoping to get the majority of it the first week of November, which is probably eight weeks later than when we’d normally get them,” Kapp said.
Taylor Creek says it will still open it’s Christmas display on October 30th.
