GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Green Bay Police say they’ve gotten a number of leads in the investigation into the death of a man found on the UW-Green Bay campus, but Captain Ben Allen says they have little in the way of new information.
“We’re working with the medical examiner’s office on identification of the victim,” Allen told WTAQ. “We were able to confirm, based on the scene, and the medical examiner’s evaluation, that this is a homicide.”
Police are currently looking into whether or not the perpetrators attempted to burn the body of the victim. Soil samples have been sent to the state’s crime lab. The body was discovered after firefighters first responded to the area for a report of a grass fire early Tuesday morning.
An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
Police describe the victim as a light skinned male in his 20-30’s, short dark hair with a trimmed beard. He was medium build and approximately six foot tall.
