BELLEVUE, WI (WTAQ) — A man upset over a check and who had a holstered handgun is what prompted a weapons call at the East Side Wal-Mart in Green Bay this morning.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office on Twitter had said there was a “weapon situation” at the store and had asked people to avoid the area.
Wal-Mart situation is no longer active.

According to scanner traffic, the man had gotten upset with cashiers over cashing a check.
Brown County Sheriff’s Captain Jody Lemmens says the man never said anything threatening, he was just upset. The police response was triggered by the initial caller telling police the man had “displayed” a weapon. Lemmens confirmed to WTAQ that the man never unholstered his gun or made any explicit threats.
Open carrying firearms is legal in Wisconsin. No arrests have been made. Sheriff’s officials have identified the man involved and hope to speak with him to get his side of the story.
The call came in just before 10:00 am. Police had cleared out shortly after 11:00 am. No arrests have been made.
