ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Some say the live events industry was one of the hardest hit during the coronavirus pandemic after sporting events and concerts were put on hold until further notice.
“I don’t think there was any industry that was decimated more than the live event industry. Certainly our business went from 100 miles per hour to zero, really,” PMI Entertainment Group corporate communications senior manager Terry Charles said.
Charles and other industry professionals say the industry is bouncing back.
“So certainly things are looking up from where they were several months ago. Once the CDC changed their masking guideline and said that masks weren’t necessary for those who are vaccinated, that pretty much was the trigger in our industry to say let’s go.”
Charles tells FOX 11 there are several events on the books in the coming months at their managed facilities.
With more events, come more ticket sales for ticket brokers like John Schmidt.
“We’re buying and we’re selling. Buyers are anxious and sellers are back in the game selling their tickets,” Schmitty’s Tickets owner John Schmidt said.
Schmidt says the past two months have been busier than ever before, and it’s continuing.
Schmidt tells FOX 11 there was a spike in sales after several Wisconsin sports teams announced that they will have full capacities at games.
“I think that’s probably picked up sales another 20 to 30 percent just in the last week or two. I mean people were kind of planning on it but nobody knew for sure.”
“Entertainment is looking up for the rest of 2021 and certainly we expect it to be very strong in 2022,” Charles said.
The Green Bay Packers announced Lambeau Field will be fully open for pre-season and regular season games.
