GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — It appears Green Bay could be getting another Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurant, this time on the city’s east side.
According to plans posted for next Monday’s Planning Commission meeting, the popular chicken restaurant is proposed for Main Street, where Wally’s Spot Supper Club currently sits.
The city traffic engineer is calling for a traffic study before construction can move forward, according to the plans. Initial concerns include traffic backups impacting the nearby Main Street and Mason Street intersection, which the engineer calls one of the busiest intersections in the city.
The city’s first Popeyes opened on the corner of W. Mason and Taylor Streets in October of last year and has experienced traffic issues on the frontage road.
The plans indicate the east side restaurant will be designed similar to the one on the west side.
Wally’s has been at its Main Street location for 52 years, according to its website. Its future isn’t certain.
