GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — It’s the first St. Patrick’s Day with open bars and restaurants in Wisconsin in two years.
Green Bay Police are urging people to take it easy and will be hitting the roads Wednesday looking for intoxicated drivers.
Police Commander Kevin Warych says there’s no excuse to get behind the wheel while drunk.
“We will have extra officers out on patrol specifically targeting operating while intoxicated offenses,” Warych said.
Programs like Safe Ride and Safe Park, which allows you to get a placard from your bartender to keep your car parked overnight so you can call a ride home safely (without getting a parking ticket), are available for those celebrating the holiday.
Last year, pandemic orders closed down bars right before St. Patricks Day.
