GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — A fire at a duplex in downtown Green Bay Thursday night left five people displaced.
Green Bay Metro Fire says it responded to a call at 533 S. Quincy St. around 7 p.m.
Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the first floor of the duplex.
Firefighters entered the home to find the fire coming from a first-floor bedroom. It had extended through the ceiling and to a nearby bathroom before reaching the second floor.
The fire was put out in under 10 minutes, but not before causing extensive damage to the second floor. Total damage is estimated at $75,000, according to department.
One resident was treated for a breathing problem on scene, but was released.
The fire is under investigation.
