BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The day after a snowstorm, hardware stores are keeping busy.
“The answering machine was full when we got in this morning,” Kimps Ace Hardware owner Craig Kimps said.
Some area hardware stores say snowstorms usually bring in business.
“Two guys out picking up and delivering right now, picking up people’s that didn’t start theirs up on time, and it’s been swamped all day long. Shovels, ice melt, everything,” Kimps said.
“A few people earlier before the storm but today has been the busiest day. A lot of snowblower repair, buying new ones, shovels. I assume it’s going to continue through the week, especially with the storm Wednesday,” De Pere True Value Hardware manager Allen Hoopingarner said.
With more snow on the radar, Kimps tells FOX 11 owners say they’re prepared.
“We’ve got lots of stuff in stock. We purchased a warehouse a couple years ago because the thing with snow is you need it now.”
They say the best time to buy is now.
Kimps says the industry has seen supply shortages because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“Right now we’re about two days out. If you ordered a snowblower today it’ll be about two days before we can get it to you. We’re that busy.”
“The day after the storm tends to be the busiest, so the sooner the better,” Hoopingarner said,
“Think ahead and call in. Don’t wait till the last minute,” Kimps said.
Winter storms are forecast to bring more snow to NE Wisconsin several times this week.
