GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Some parents of Green Bay Area School District students are planning a demonstration this weekend in support of bringing kids back into the classroom.
Brook Andrews is one of those parents planning to demonstrate on Saturday, she says they’re trying to get the school board to start taking steps to get students back in.
“The experts are indicating that schools are a safe place to be,” Andrews said Monday. “As we are made more aware of the funding the schools have to keep kids safe, we are pushing that much harder.”
The demonstration will come ahead of next week’s school board meeting that the group also plans to attend.
The CDC has issued guidelines around reopening schools. The director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr. Anthony Fauci, recommended opening schools last week.
A petition with around 600 signatures asking the school board to return to class has also been circulating.
The demonstration is expected Saturday at 1:00 pm in front of the school district offices.
