ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – Greenville’s town administrator is set to take a new job later this month as the Ashwaubenon village manager.
Joel Gregozeski has helped run Greenville since 2017. Greenville is comparable in size to Ashwaubenon, with just over 12,000 residents and about $1.5 billion in equalized value.
“Both have great opportunities and a bright future, it’s just a different style of how things are run and managed from that aspect…Ashwaubenon is certainly a more established community, having been incorporated for a while longer than Greenville,” Gregozeski told WTAQ News. “Ashwaubenon is more of a developed community that is looking to redevelop areas to maximize its overall value and quality of life. Greenville is larger community in land area, and more diverse from a land use perspective.”
It’s also a good personal move. Gregozeski currently lives in Brown County, which means his commute would be much shorter – and would keep him closer to family.
“This is a great opportunity for me as well. It’s a larger community, Ashwaubenon has a lot of great positive things within the community itself, and then just the potential for opportunity moving forward,” Gregozeski said.
For some people, piloting a community with a major airport could be a challenge. But with Appleton International Airport technically in Greenville, Gregozeski has a few miles under his belt – especially as he took part in the Gulfstream addition and expansion last year.
“The airport certainly is a big economic engine…We were able to successfully not only work with airport officials and county officials in Outagamie County, but also state and federal folks in order to help move along and expand industrial projects there,” Gregozeski said. “I certainly hope that I can be that bridge and that liaison in Ashwaubenon for Austin Straubel and help in advancing their efforts to improve the airport itself from an economic standpoint, as well as just a passenger component.”
But Green Bay Austin Straubel International Airport isn’t the only big player in the community. Just around the corner from Ashwaubenon Village Hall, there’s a big green building that tends to attract a few people to town on Sundays.
“The Titletown District, the Green Bay Packers being right there in the community – that’s just icing on the top,” Gregozeski said. “It’s just really adds another element that there’s no other community in Wisconsin that has. That element of having a National Football League team right in your backyard.”
The village board is set to confirm the hire at its November 24th meeting. He would start on November 30th. He replaces Allison Buckley, who resigned in July.
