KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Kaukauna High School now has a state-of-the-art, $100,000 CNC machine for use in its Tech Ed classes. The 13,000 pound, nine foot tall machine has a huge variety of uses.
Project manager for Fox Valley Tool and Die, Corey Helms, “it’s not the old shop, not like what it used to be. It’s more clean and technology advances are pretty huge so it’s pretty neat.”
Fox Valley Tool and Die teamed up with the high school to get a grant from state. Allowing them to buy the machine snd expand career opportunities for Kaukauna’s Tech Ed. students.
“It does several things. Program different types of parts to replicate what happens in industry so it provides us a way to prepare students to become youth apprentices,” said Kaukauna High School Technology Education teacher Craig Sackmann.
The new CNC tool is the sixth machine to be added to the Kaukauna High School Tech Ed. program. It was purchased with the help of Fox Valley Tool and Die and a grant from the state.
