APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Outagamie County officials say for the sixth straight year, residents will see their tax rate reduced.
County Executive Tom Nelson submitted a 2021 budget proposal to the Outagamie County Board of Supervisors which lowers the property tax rate by 4.1% to $3.71 per thousand.
According to officials, the average homeowner with a $186,122 property valuation, will pay $689 in county taxes.
“There is little doubt that 2020 was one of the most difficult in the history of Outagamie County owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent economic repercussions,” Nelson said. “Fortunately, responsible fiscal management and prudent budgeting put the county in a strong position, despite this historic challenge.”
In the budget, the county will expand its Public Health Division with the additional staffers. It will also add a Diversity & Inclusion Coordinator.
Outagamie’s 2021 budget maintains a fund balance of 13% while utilizing over $7.8 million to complete capital projects.
