OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Ricardo Martinez-Mendez was charged Friday with first-degree intentional homicide for allegedly shooting Jarvis Gladney — because Gladney had said something derogatory about Martinez-Mendez’s girlfriend.
An initial court appearance is scheduled for Friday afternoon.
After coming home from the bars, Martinez-Mendez and Gladney were together at a home on Taft Avenue in the early morning hours of Sept. 19.
“The defendant stated that (Gladney) was very insulting to the defendant, calling the defendant and his girlfriend names. The defendant claimed that (Gladney) also threatened to kill the defendant. The defendant stated that he just got mad and he pulled out his gun The defendant stated that (Gladney) grabbed the defendant’s neck. The defendant stated that he pushed (Gladney) and (Gladney) fell to the ground, at which point the defendant shot (Gladney),” the complaint states.
Martinez-Mendez was arrested after refusing to come out of a home for more than four hours.
An autopsy determined Gladney was shot in the chest, the complaint states.
