MENASHA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A pair of Menasha officers were injured while attempting to contain a man Tuesday.
The department says officers were dispatched to a business in the 1200 Block Appleton Road for a report of a man with an axe causing a disturbance.
After an officer attempted to de-escalate the situation, the man hit the officer multiple times with his fists.
A nearby officer and customers worked to gain control of the man during the fight, according to the department.
While waiting for medical treatment, the man fled on foot, and a second officer was injured during the chase.
Both officers were treated at local hospitals and released, the department says.
The man, a 25-year-old Fox Crossing resident, was arrested and taken to the Winnebago County Jail.
