ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The vast majority of Packers Season Ticketholders are opting out of their chance to buy tickets this season.
More than 80% of Packers season ticket holders decided to opt out of their ticket chances for this season, according to team President and CEO Mark Murphy.
Murphy revealed the results in an interview posted to the team’s website on Saturday.
A survey asking season ticket holders to either opt in or opt out for the chance to purchase tickets to games this season was sent out in late July. The Packers were not guaranteeing same seat locations or amounts for each game.
The team announced last week that fans would not be inside Lambeau Field for at least the team’s first two home games. Murphy says the amount of season ticket holders who opted out played a role.
“So, in my mind, I think the fact that high of percentage of our fans were not comfortable coming to games was a factor that weighed into my thinking,” said Murphy.
The earliest the fans could be allowed to attend games is November 1st, the team’s third home game versus the Minnesota Vikings.
The Packers have not provided any specific benchmark they are using to decide whether fans should be allowed at games.
Murphy has previously said 12,000 fans would likely be the maximum allowed at games if they are eventually permitted. Fans would be required to wear masks.
