GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Rain could put a damper on the unofficial start of summer in Northeast Wisconsin.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Roy Eckberg says there is a chance of rain each day through Monday, starting with a 30-40% chance Friday.
“We’re looking at a 20-30% chance of rain on Saturday. Probably a 40-50% chance across the area on Sunday. Then it looks like for Memorial Day, a 40-50% chance again.”
Eckberg notes temperatures likely won’t reach the 82 degrees recorded on the May holiday last year.
“Highs on Saturday in the 70’s and in the upper 60’s to mid-70’s on Sunday. For Memorial Day, we’re looking at highs mainly in the 60’s.”
According to Eckberg, Wisconsin’s Memorial Day temperatures have varied quite a bit over the years.
“The warmest Memorial Day on record was 89 degrees on May 26, 2006. Temperatures have been as cold as 31 degrees on May 26, 1969.”
