BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A 39-year-old Green Bay man accused of a Brown County murder may have to testify before he’s allowed to point the finger elsewhere.
George Burch had a motion hearing Friday on a First Degree Intentional Homicide charge tied to the May 21, 2016 death of Nicole VanderHeyden.
Burch’s attorney’s have filed a Denny motion to present evidence that VanderHeyden’s boyfriend Douglass Detrie is the killer.
While the defense believes it has met all Denny motion requirements, prosecutors want Burch to testify first.
Another hearing is set for August 16.
Burch’s trial is scheduled to begin October 2.
