GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a deadly crash in Outagamie County.
Just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Sheriff’s Office was called to the area of West Wisconsin and Glennview Drive in the Village of Greenville for an iPhone automated crash detection alert.
When deputies arrived, they found a single vehicle had been involved in a significant crash.
A preliminary investigation shows a minivan was going eastbound on West Wisconsin Avenue when it lost control and went into the ditch.
The minivan got back on the roadway and then crossed over the westbound lane of traffic before going into the ditch again and eventually hitting a tree.
A 64-year-old Grand Chute man was driving.
He was taken to a hospital with life threatening injuries.
A 58-year-old Grand Chute woman was a passenger in the minivan.
She died at the scene from her injuries.
The roadway was closed for about five hours, but has since reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
