DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — St. Norbert College’s Army ROTC program will continue amid a nationwide program review.
In July, the college learned that its Army ROTC program was slated to be inactivated as part of a nationwide reorganization. This also included ROTC programs at UW-Oshkosh, UW-Green Bay, Ripon College, and Marian University.
Now the Army issued a revised directive retaining all eligible Senior ROTC programs previously slated for closure or reclassification to a crosstown. As a result, the ROTC program at St. Norbert College will continue in its current status as an extension unit.
The St. Norbert College ROTC program is a member of the Fox Valley Battalion. Since 1936, the ROTC program at St. Norbert College has prepared more than 980 graduates to serve. Fourteen alumni have risen to the rank of general, and 33 have become colonels. The program will continue to build on this proud legacy, developing leaders for both military and civilian life.
Last week, UW-Oshkosh announced its ROTC program will also continue. No updated statuses of the other schools, including UW-Green Bay, have been released.
