SHEBOYGAN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An inmate at the Sheboygan County Detention Center was found dead Sunday.
According to the sheriff’s office, a correctional officer was conducting a security check when they discovered an unresponsive inmate in the shower of the housing unit.
The inmate was removed from the shower and lifesaving efforts were performed, but the inmate was pronounced dead.
Officials identified the inmate as 65-year-old Pao Lee.
The Sheboygan County Medical Examiner was contacted and the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office will execute “a thorough, transparent, external investigation of the circumstances surrounding the incident.”
Authorities say they will not release any more information until both the medical examiner’s office and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office complete their investigations.
