A juvenile student was arrested after a pair of lunch hour disturbances at Preble High School led to the recovery of a handgun with ammunition, Sept. 9, 2025. PC: Fox 11 Online
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Prosecutors want the juvenile who allegedly brought a gun to Preble High School waived into adult court.
A 16-year-old was arrested after the incident last week, Police Chief Chris Davis said. Police requested charges of disorderly conduct, battery, and possession of a firearm of a person under 18.
In Wisconsin, those age 16 and under are charged in juvenile court for most crimes, but prosecutors can seek to have cases moved to adult court. That’s what has happened in this case, with a hearing scheduled for next month.
State law allows the media to report what happens in juvenile court, but may not report the identity of children in juvenile court.
The incident prompted the school district to require middle and high school students to use clear backpacks starting next week. A community forum on school safety will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at Preble, 2222 Deckner Ave.
