GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – One of the suspects in a Chicago-to-Green Bay drug ring was convicted Friday.
Michael Oliver, 53, pleaded guilty to delivery of fentanyl and cocaine, while two other charges were dismissed. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 7, court records show.
Five search warrants were executed in Brown County earlier in July, 2024. A simultaneous search of the stash house in Chicago yielded 12 kilograms (26 pounds) of fentanyl, four kilograms (nine pounds) of cocaine, 748 grams (1.6 pounds) of meth, 460 grams (one pound) of heroin, 16 guns and some marijuana.
Seven people were initially charged after the arrests were announced. Prosecutors have since said this case was the state’s first wiretap investigation for fentanyl and at least 47 people are facing charges.
One of those, James Grandberry, has an appeal pending on his request to dismiss his case because he hasn’t had a preliminary in the 14 months since being charged – something normally done within 10 days
