ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An 18 year old male has been taken into custody in connection to an incident that closed the ramp from westbound WIS 172 to southbound I-41 in Ashwaubenon.
On Friday at approximately 12:31 pm, law enforcement officers and fire/rescue personnel responded to the area of I-41 southbound and State Highway 172 for a report of a one vehicle crash that left the roadway.
Responding deputies received information from passerby’s that a male was seen running from the vehicle with a firearm.
Upon arrival on scene, deputies took the 18-year old male who had firearm near him in a ditch into custody without incident.
A search of the vehicle involved in leaving the roadway resulted in the locating of a deceased adult male. Cause of death is pending autopsy results.
The 18-year-old male remains in custody. At this time, there is no information to indicate the public is in any further danger.
The area of I-41 and STH 172 remains an active crime scene and members of the public are urged to avoid this location for the time being if possible. STH 172 (westbound) remains open; however the ramp from 172 (westbound) to I-41 (southbound) is closed. There are also partial lane closures on I-41 (southbound). Anticipated ramp opening is 7 p.m. Friday.
No names will be released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is leading the criminal investigation which remains active and ongoing.
