OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A recent survey revealed that UW-Oshkosh graduates are landing local jobs before graduation, boosting Wisconsin’s workforce retention.
On Monday, university leaders rolled out the “First Destination” survey results for the class of 2023-24 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Neenah. They gave special recognition to ThedaCare, which hired a whopping 48 UWO grads from that class—more than any other single employer.
UW-Oshkosh officials say its UWO Career center helped eight out of 10 graduates land jobs in the Fox Valley before graduation.
The average starting UWO new alumni salaries are also rising. Over the past 15 years, the average salary has jumped from $41,975 in 2011-12 to $59,064 in 2023-24— keeping up with, if not surpassing, the cost of living.
In total, 1,445 graduates are included in the report. The results reflect students from the Class of 2023–24 who were on the official graduation list and awarded a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh during the 2023–24 academic year, including graduates from fall 2023, spring 2024 and summer 2024.
