OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — We’re closing in on the completion of construction at the new ThedaCare health campus in Oshkosh.
Officials broke ground on ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh in March 2024. The hospital is located downtown at 250 W. 6th Avenue, along the Fox River.
Major progress has been made at the site since ThedaCare’s last project update a few months ago. Some of the newest milestones include:
- Flooring installation started
- First coats of paint applied
- Vinyl wallcovering within the hospital is underway
- Exterior glass at the hospital is complete
- Asphalt paving taking place
- Landscaping has begun
- Concrete curbs complete site sidewalks are nearing completion
ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh is expected to open late this year.
The facility’s downtown location was chosen purposefully. Nearly 73% of Oshkosh’s residents live east of Interstate 41, while most of the current health care services are located west of I-41 — meaning east-side residents are more than 15 minutes away from a hospital or emergency room.
“We know during emergency situations, time is critical. That is what led us to create the campus at the current site – to meet people where they are,” said Lynn Detterman, president of Froedtert ThedaCare Health’s north region, in a news release.
The hospital is projected to be 114,000 square feet, with an estimated $84 million investment. ThedaCare updated their initial plans for the health campus and added a 28,000-square-foot third floor to the original design.
Comprehensive community care, including emergency and inpatient services, will be available at the new campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Plans also call for:
- Comprehensive radiology services including CT scans, x-ray, ultrasound, mammography and MRI
- Nuclear medicine, cardiac stress testing, echocardiography and lab services
- Drive-thru retail pharmacy
- Ambulatory surgery center with operating rooms
- Medical office building for primary care, pediatrics and specialties.
“The new campus also rounds out clinical care we have been providing the Oshkosh community for years, including cancer care, behavioral health, urgent care, orthopedics, physical therapy, primary care, pediatrics and more,” said Jenny Nikolai, vice president of ThedaCare Medical Centers-Fond du Lac and Oshkosh, in the release.
This site will allow our teams to continue caring for the people in the Oshkosh area and provide the level of expertise they deserve.
Approximately 60 new jobs for caregivers and staff will be created. If you are interested in learning more about careers at ThedaCare Medical Center-Oshkosh, click here.
