FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Superintendent Jeffrey Fleig retired about a month early, the Fond du Lac school district says.
In January, Fleig announced his intention to retire June 30. However, in a letter dated Thursday, school board president Katie Moder announced that Fleig’s last day was Tuesday.
The letter says he retired early “to pursue an upcoming professional opportunity.”
Fleig had been superintendent since 2021.
Matt Steinbarth, the district’s chief academic officer, has been named the next superintendent.
