NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Thanks to a $33,000 grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, Future Neenah is planning to re-invent a long vacant alley in the heart of downtown.
The new space, called “Alta Alley”, will take the place of an old bank drive through between Knox Furniture Gallery and the former Bank Mutual space.
The project will cost a total of $66,000, and feature children’s play areas, seating and art.
Future Neenah Assistant Executive Director Sara Hanneman said it’s all in the name of bringing a new life to the downtown area.
“Just to create a small place of zen in the center of our downtown. So if you work downtown, that might include grabbing your lunch from one of the downtown restaurants and coming to eat it here,” she said.
Future Neenah plans to take advantage of the warm weather season and make significant headway on the project into the fall.
