GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Jacob Ventura was convicted Thursday for his role in a 2022 murder on the city’s west side.
Ventura pleaded no contest to aiding a felon, and being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting death of Randall Denny at Perkins and Western avenues on April 30, 2022. Police have said the murder appeared to be tied a drug deal, with prosecutors adding that a theft by Denny — including money, drugs, and weapons — was a motivating factor.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 17.
Ventura, 38, had been charged with being party to first-degree intentional homicide. District Attorney David Lasee noted the reduced charged better reflected his actual role in the case, and acknowledged that Ventura cooperated with prosecutors and testified at trial.
Alejandro Cantu was sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role. Gustavo Cantu is scheduled to be sentenced May 23.
