MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — District officials are inviting the Manitowoc community to attend a “critical maintenance tour” in an effort to showcase the importance of their upcoming $25 million referendum.
According to the Manitowoc Public School District, the tour will give the community a chance to see “examples of both the visible and behind-the-scenes facilities projects” that would be funded if the April 1 referendum is approved.
Tours of four schools will take place March 29. The schedule is as follows:
- 9:00 a.m. – Lincoln High School (1433 South 8th St.)
- 9:30 a.m. – Jefferson Elementary School (1415 Division St.)
- 10:00 a.m. – Wilson Middle School (1200 North 9th St.)
- 10:40 a.m. – Jackson Elementary School (1201 North 18th St.)
Residents can join any or all of the planned tours. Officials say each tour will be approximately 20 to 30 minutes, followed by time for participants to drive to the next school on the tour.
The district says the referendum would have no tax impact.
If approved, the $25 million referendum will have NO TAX IMPACT because the district has identified more than enough in operational budget savings that will pay for the annual borrowing debt payments to do these critical building and safety repairs.
Questions about the referendum can be submitted using this form, or directed to MPSD Interim Supt. Lee Thennes at (920) 652-0036 or by email.
