MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Wisconsin Teamsters endorse Vice President Kamala Harris.
The 1.3 million member International Brotherhood of Teamsters declined to endorse either Harris or Donald Trump, but Teamsters Joint Council 39 in Wisconsin is backing Harris.
“We heard that there was not going to be an endorsement, but we have the ability to make our own endorsements, which we took advantage of immediately,” said Joint Council President Bill Carroll.
Carroll says some of the 15,000 Teamsters in Wisconsin do support Trump, but the Harris endorsement has a lot to do with the union’s experience in Wisconsin.
“There really hasn’t been any type of action that the Republicans in Wisconsin have done that have really benefited organized labor or working families in general,” said Carroll.
Teamsters Joint Council 32 representing members in Minnesota, Iowa and the Dakotas also endorses Harris.
