(WNFL) – Heading into this week’s game against Alabama, the Wisconsin Badgers were hoping to put on an impressive show against South Dakota.
Instead, the Badgers defeated South Dakota 27-13 in a game that was in doubt until the fourth quarter when Wisconsin scored Chez Mellusi scored on a 1-yard run with just under 8 minutes to play to put the Badgers ahead 27-13.
Cade Yacamelli led the Badgers with 73 yards rushing while Mellusi added 65 for Wisconsin which finished with 171 yards rushing.
Tyler Van Dyke completed 17-of-27 passes for 214 yards.
CJ Williams caught 2 passes for 53 yards while Will Pauling hauled in 4 balls for 48 yards.
The Badgers finished with 388 yards of offense while the Coyotes had 237 yards of offense.
Wisconsin was 7-of-14 on third-down plays while South Dakota was 2-for-11.
Hunter Wohler had a team-high 8 tackles for Wisconsin.
