GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Green Bay house fire that displaced four adults and a child was caused by improper use of smoking materials by a juvenile, the Fire Marshall’s office says.
Crews were called to a west side home Thursday around 10:30 p.m. for a fire that started in the garage and spread to the home.
All occupants were able to make it out safely.
The Red Cross is assisting the family.
Officials say juvenile fire setting is a serious issue contributing to a dozen fires yearly in the community. Half of these fires are started using smoking materials such as matches and lighters. The Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding parents and caregivers to keep these items away from children and explain the dangers of fire.
