OCONTO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Oconto Area Humane Society is asking the public for information and financial assistance after a dog was abandoned outside the shelter.
According to a Facebook post from OAHS, it happened around 10:30 p.m. Monday. Although security cameras captured the incident, OAHS says it was unable to identify those responsible.
Officials say the dog, a female, was “attached to metal poles outside our building with a thin retractable leash.” She was discovered by shelter staff Tuesday morning and has been treated for an ear infection. She also appears to have some digestive issues, OAHS says.
The dog is microchipped, but the phone number on record isn’t in service. Anyone with information about the dog or its owners, or if you think this is your missing dog, you are asked to contact OAHS at (920) 835-1738.
Our limited resources are already stretched thin. Please do not leave animals on our property. The intake procedures we have in place ensure the best possible outcome for the people and animals that use our services as well as ensure that we can financially handle the animals we take in.
OAHS said any donations to care for this dog and the other animals at OAHS are greatly appreciated. Click here to donate.
