HORTONVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A small gesture from the Hortonville Police Department made a big difference for a child with a broken bike.
According to a Facebook post Tuesday, a village administrator named Nathan stopped into the police department and said he had played a game of HORSE with a child at a local park.
After they finished the game, the child got on a pink scooter. He explained it was his sister’s and he was borrowing it because his bike had broken.
Nathan asked the police officers if they knew of any bikes laying around. Officer Sweeney went to the Department of Public Works and sure enough, he found one. It was dirty and needed a bit of tuning up, which the DPW staff gladly assisted with.
Officer Sokolski then delivered the bike to the child, who was “one happy kiddo.”
“It takes a village to make a kiddo happy,” the post said in conclusion.
