ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A new development featuring apartment units, commercial space, and hundreds of parking stalls is being proposed in Ashwaubenon.
It’s set to be built on a currently empty lot just south of the Green Bay Rockers stadium. Cormier Property Partners LLC is proposing the mixed-use development.
“We call it a mixed-use development, that it does sort of a lot of different purposes for the village,” said Aaron Schuette, Ashwaubenon’s community development director.
“It’s a 152-apartment unit development with some first floor commercial, common space areas, as well as overflow parking for both the Capital Credit Union Park Stadium and Epic Event Center,” Schuette continued.
The lot was purchased in February by Cormier Property Partners.
Derek Liebhauser with Spark Development Co. tells FOX 11, “We have a really unique opportunity here to serve some of the parking needs for the Rockers, and not just develop a property of asphalt, but something that provides significant value and vibrancy to the village.”
The development proposes 295 dedicated spaces for event parking and 43 for dedicated commercial parking.
The lot is the previous site of Green Bay Packaging, and Schuette says it’s a change from what it used to be.
“It certainly has transitioned from what it was, and really what this area of Ashwaubenon was,” he explained. “From really a kind of an industrial area, to really more of a mixed use. Serving more as a connection as well between the mall area and our entertainment district up here closer to the stadium.”
Schuette tells us that it’s another step towards transforming Ashwaubenon.
“We are really trying to really reinvent ourselves from your classic, first ring suburb,” he detailed. “Your standard, strip shopping centers, things like that, into a mixed-use entertainment, active place where people want to not just go to shop or go to get something to eat, but really to live, to work, to start a business.”
The development is in its site plan review stage, after which the development company will put together their building plans and begin looking for contractors.
