APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Tyrese Simmons faces six charges, including second-degree recklessly endangering safety, for allegedly firing multiple shots in Appleton’s Erb Park Tuesday night. No one was injured.
Simmons, 19, made an initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon, where a $150,000 cash bond was set.
According to the criminal complaint, Simmons approached a bunch of juveniles, asking about a phone which had been lost or stolen. Simmons then allegedly pulled a gun out of backpack and fired. Witnesses reported hearing three or four shots.
Police found two spent 9mm casings and one unspent round near the park pavilion. Simmons was tracked down and arrested. Police found a gun in his backpack.
It’s the second gun-related incident at Erb Park in less than a year. Cashmere Williams, 17, was sentenced earlier this month to 14 years in prison for a July 31, 2023 shooting. The victim was shot in the arm and abdomen, but survived.
