GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay’s City Council approved a permit for a new 100,000 square foot forging facility on the city’s far east side.
Green Bay Drop Forge’s new facility received some opposition from nearby neighbors of the Finger Road site. Their concerns mostly centered around noise that would come from the facility.
Council members say they believe enough was done to try to limit the noise, which will be below the maximum level set in city ordinance.
The company says the new development will keep 130 jobs in the area.
The project is expected to include press production 24 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Like the company’s other site, work at this facility will also include hammer and machine shop production. Officials say noise will be kept below 80 decibels, as required by city ordinance.
