FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man who allegedly threatened to kill another individual in a Fond du Lac apartment with two children inside was taken into custody.
Police say around 6:43 p.m. Sunday they received a report of a man who had pointed a handgun at another individual following an argument inside the apartment complex on Donohue Court.
The 44-year-old man ran away before police arrived and later returned to the apartment.
Officers established a perimeter and began negotiating with the man on the phone.
The man refused to leave the apartment and he would not allow two children, ages 4 and 5, to exit either.
The Fond du Lac Police Department SWAT team, along with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team, responded to the scene and forced entry was made to the apartment just before 10 p.m.
Both children were safely removed from the apartment.
The man resisted officers’ attempts to take him into custody and an electronic control device was used to take him into custody.
No injuries were reported.
Police are recommending multiple charges against the man, including First Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Possession of a Firearm while Intoxicated, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Battery, and Disorderly Conduct.
