(WTAQ-WLUK) — A commemorative football arrived in Wisconsin Tuesday to symbolize the move of the NFL Draft from Detroit to Green Bay.
The football traveled from Michigan on the Lake Express ferry and arrived in Milwaukee just before noon.
The Draft Handoff is an homage to the transfer of the Olympic torch as well as traditions associated with the Super Bowl.
Bicyclists will carry the football part of the way from Milwaukee to Lambeau Field, highlighting Wisconsin’s outdoor recreation opportunities along the way.
The Green Bay Packers organization says it will post updates on the ball’s progress on social media, using the hashtag #PedalToTheDraft.
When the football arrives in the Green Bay area, kids on bikes can ride along with the convoy as it arrives at Lambeau Field. Interested children are asked to wear Packers gear and be in position with their bikes at the Armed Forces Drive entrance to Ray Nitschke Field at 6 p.m.
When the ball arrives at the Lambeau Field Atrium, the handoff will be complete and an NFL Draft countdown clock will be unveiled.
The 2025 NFL Draft is set for April 24-26.
