(WTAQ-WLUK) — One of the two girls involved in the 2014 Slender Man stabbing, is now petitioning for conditional release.
Morgan Geyser, 24, was sentenced to 40 years in the Winnebago County Health Institute.
In 2014, Geyser and Anissa Weier stabbed their classmate nearly to death to appease fictional character, Slender Man.
Both were found not guilty by reason of mental defect.
Geyser was released to a group home last year but she escaped two months later.
After her arrest in Illinois, she was returned to the Winnebago Mental Health Institute.
Geyser’s defense attorney, Anthony Cotton, says she’s ready for another chance, “She didn’t do something violent, she didn’t do something dangerous, she wasn’t harmed, she didn’t do anything.
The same three doctors who previously evaluated Geyser will now submit new mental health evaluations to the court.
A conditional release hearing is set for November.
Weier had her GPS monitor removed in 2023.
