GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Green Bay’s YWCA is expanding access for an in demand service.
Earlier this week, the YWCA transformed one of their office spaces into a new infant day-care room.
Holly Herman, Early Childhood Director with the YWCA says the need was urgent.
“We were probably almost daily turning families away,” said Herman. “We were getting inquiries via email and over the phone of people looking for care.”
But with more babies coming in, more staff is needed.
“Right now we just have four babies in our new infant room, so we only needed one teacher in there,” said Herman. “But as we increase the capacity in that room, then we will need to bring another teacher on.”
The new room will then be able to accommodate caring for 8 babies; in addition to the 8 that are cared for in another room.
ARPA funding was used to cover the costs associated with the new room; which is all windows on one wall and features new toys, shelves, chairs, cribs, and more.
