STURGEON BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Monday marks the two-year anniversary since a Door County company began raising money and support for Ukraine.
After Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24, 2022, it took about two days for Door County Candle Company in Sturgeon Bay to take action.
The Ukrainian-American woman-owned business began selling blue and yellow candles with 100% of profits donated to Razom for Ukraine, a Ukrainian 501 (3) organization.
The company was also shipping candle tins to Ukraine to provide light to families and soldiers without power.
In two years, Door County Candle Company raised more than $1 million for Razom and sent more than 15,000 candle tins to Ukrainians.
The company will continue to sell the special vanilla-scented candle:
- Purchase a Ukraine Candle from Door County Candle Company here.
- Donate directly to Razom, a non-profit Ukrainian-American human rights organization, here.
The Ukraine fundraiser sparked an interest to help other causes. Over the years, the Door County Candle Company has sold specialty candles to raise relief funds for those affected by the wildfires in Hawaii and Hurricane Ian.
