GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Amid increased demand, The Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay says it fell short of its Christmas Campaign goal.
Salvation Army leaders say the organization raised 87% of the $1.4 million goal at red kettles during the holiday season. That leaves a shortfall of $181,000.
“We give thanks for the entire community working together to help us get to this point,” Maj. Matt O’Neil said in a news release. “Sadly, we fell short of our goal, but we have hope that the community will step up in a time of need, and we intend to do everything we can to not have this profoundly affect the clients we serve.”
The Salvation Army says it has recently seen an increase in demand for rent assistance and seasonal assistance such as coats and toys.
The local corps is asking members of the community to make recurring monthly donations. Those can be arranged online or by calling (920) 593-2367.
The Christmas Campaign accounts for 60% of the annual fundraising budget.
