GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A 16-year-old has been ordered to stand trial on drug delivery charges.
Maylia Sotelo waived her right to a preliminary hearing Friday in Brown County court. She faces two counts of being party to the delivery of fentanyl, one for being party to delivery of marijuana, and one for possession of fentanyl with intent to deliver. The charges date from drug sales on Nov. 29 and Dec. 6, 2022.
Sotelo is due back in court Jan. 26 to enter a plea.
In a separate case, Sotelo is charged in adult court with first-degree reckless homicide for the December death of an 18-year-old man at a De Pere home. Sotelo was 15 at the time.
In Wisconsin, those ages 10 and older charged with certain homicide counts are prosecuted in adult court. The defense can ask for the case to be moved to juvenile court — known as a ‘reverse waiver’ — but such requests are not automatically granted.
Sotelo remains jailed on a total of $250,000 in cash bond in the two cases.
