APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to a duplex and its contents Thursday afternoon on Appleton’s east side.
Firefighters say they were called to the 3200 block of E. Canary Street around 1 p.m. Crews found the smoke and flames behind the duplex and got it under control within about 10 minutes.
One family of two adults and two children was home. All made it out safely. Firefighters also rescued a dog and a cat.
Properly working smoke alarms sounded on one side of the duplex.
