Oshkosh Fire Department (Fox 11 Online)
OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A person died in an Oshkosh house fire early Thursday morning.
Just before 5 a.m., crews were called to the home at 1837 Ashland Street for a report of a fire with people possibly still inside.
When the first crew arrived, some residents were outside and heavy black smoke was coming from the house.
After searching the house, one resident was found deceased.
There was heavy smoke and fire damage to the entire residence.
Oshkosh Fire says the residents were alerted to the fire by their working smoke alarm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
