MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Manitowoc Lincoln High School is celebrating 100 years of being open this year.
A tour of the building, built in 1923, was held Saturday for the community. It coincided with the school’s homecoming week activities.
Principal Micah Hoffman says it is an honor to lead students in one of the community’s most well-known buildings.
“It’s a very iconic structure,” said Hoffman. “We’ve got the gothic tower that is out in front. We actually have some alumni that are working on collecting donations. We’re going to do a renovation of the tower sometime hopefully in the next two or three years, collect funds to make sure the tower is functional. Hopefully maybe create some classrooms up in there.”
Besides the school’s fieldhouse, Hoffman says the building is mostly original.
This year’s graduating class will also be the 100th class at the school.
