FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A house fire in Fond du Lac on Tuesday evening caused heavy damage and claimed the lives of two pets, officials say.
Just after 6:45 p.m., Fond du Lac Rescue was called to 129 W. Scott Street, a two-story single-family residential home, for a reported fire.
When crews arrived, they observed flames coming from a first-floor window and heavy smoke from inside the entire residence.
Responders “quickly knocked the fire down from the outside and made an interior attack extinguishing the fire” within 30 minutes.
No one was inside the home at the time; however, two pets died as a result of the fire.
Officials say the fire caused heavy smoke and water damage throughout the home, but no neighboring structures were affected.
Fire investigators are working to determine the fire’s cause and origin.
